Courses and Qualifications Development

Years 9-12 Learning develop courses and qualifications on behalf of the Department for Education, Children and Young People for learners in Years 9 to 12.

Senior Secondary Accredited Courses

On behalf of the Minister for Education, Children and Young People, Years 9-12 Learning are responsible for the development and revision of the curriculum for senior secondary education. This curriculum is available to all Tasmanian registered schools.

The Review of Years 9 to 12 Tasmania by Australian Council for Educational Research in 2016, recommended a review and update of the formal curriculum, assessment, reporting and accreditation requirements. Years 9-12 Learning are currently undertaking this work in alignment with the curriculum priorities.

Schools can view the planned course provision and course development activity from 2023 to 2025 on the Planned Course Provision site.

Note: Years 9–12 Learning has paused the 2025 Course development cycle in response to departmental priorities and needs.
