The Course Review process is now complete, and the amendments are currently being processed by TASC.
We invite feedback on courses delivered for the first time in 2024 (Phase 1 review) and courses delivered for the first time in 2022 and 2023 (Phase 2 review).
Years 11 and 12 Moderation will take place on Friday 6 September 2024.
• All teachers need to register by 5pm on 30 August 2024.
• Samples will be available for marking from 26 August 2024.
Tasmania’s Policy and Procedure for DECYP schools, developed with ITS and stakeholders, is on the TLC website, with more resources to be added throughout the year.
Years 9-12 Learning, the 11-12 team and the DECYP RTO have consolidated into two units: Senior Secondary Provision and Vocational Learning.

Recently, the Leaders Advisory Committee (LAC) Moderation sub-group met to consider moderation and the online platform.
The sub-group members represent DECYP, Catholic, and Independent schools/colleges, including Principals, Assistant Principals, and Leaders of Learning. The meeting was held in in response to feedback from the Visual Art Learning Area, specifically related to reviewing practical work samples online.
The communique summarises their recommendation to the LAC and covers the topics discussed during the meeting.
Six new Applied Capability Qualifications (ACQs) have been recognised by TASC as Formal Learning for use from 2024 and accredited until the end of 2028.
The qualifications are now ready for publication.
Years 11 and 12 Moderation will take place on Thursday, 28 March 2024.
• All teachers need to register by 5:00 pm on 21 March 2024.
Please remind teachers to check the TASC website for the latest versions of courses following communication published on 6 December 2023 regarding the 2023 course review process.
Years 9-12 Learning have been liaising with TASC on the Phase 1 course review feedback.
Reports for each of the courses are now available outlining:
• What we heard – identified issues
• Agreed Years 9-12 Learning/TASC response:
– Course amendments
– Clarifications
– Recommendations
Six new Applied Capability Qualifications (ACQs) have been recognised by TASC as Formal Learning for use from 2024. These qualifications replace the previous General Capability Short Qualifications.

From 2024, schools intending to deliver a Package of Learning (PoL) are invited to complete a registration form to deliver Packages of Learning
Collaborative Planning Sessions – Senior secondary courses for delivery in 2024
Years 9-12 Learning are co-ordinating the registration for Collaborative Planning Sessions being facilitated by senior secondary teachers.
The sessions being offered are:
*Biology Level 3 – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
* English Inquiry Level 3 – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
* English Studio Level 2 and 3 (combined) – 10:00 am to 3.30 pm
